Giving Away Your Ball (Energy)
I heard something the other day from a guy named Bodhi who was once in Portugal. He said they have a concept over there about a blue ball sitting around your navel that signifies energy. Now in Yoga we would say this is one of our energy centers, called the Sacral Chakra (and refers to the colour orange); in Qigong, it is the lower Dan Tien. The concept is, if you give away your blue ball (energy) to someone, a toxic person perhaps, how does that make you feel? In essence, you've given away your energy, your power to someone or something that disrupts your peace... So how can you get the ball back and keep it?
If you bring your mind to the belly button area, the Sacral Chakra/lower DanTien, and just sit and focus on this region here, you may notice a shift in your energy. You may feel more powerful, more assertive, balanced. It also gets you out of your head and all of the stories you keep telling yourself about certain people, events or even about yourself. You may feel a shift happening. You feel more in control instead of letting your emotions control you. We all have our moments of sadness/anger/frustration, etc, but in this way, we have less of those moments where our heads are guiding us. It's more of our intuition leading us.
A teacher once said intuition speaks once, our head speaks endlessly. Listen to your intuition, and focus on the belly button region, whether you choose to focus on a blue ball of energy, Sacral Chakra or lower Dan Tien. It won't guide you wrong. You'll be keeping your energy more often and not giving your blue ball away. Another thing is: YOU have to do the work for YOU. Others can offer help but it's up to YOU. Of course, meditation, being in your happy place or doing your favourite things also helps. But keep your power, don't give it away! You'll live a happier life!
Classes begin soon, and although I've been loving my time off, I miss you all!!

Class Descriptions
Monday and Wednesday: Yoga - Dori
Both classes combine a variety of Hatha & Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra and periodically Qigong. Great for stretching, strengthening, balance, stress reduction and so much more. Evening class is sometimes a little more powerful with postures and strengthening. Both classes begin with a centering and end with savasana (lying down for relaxation/Yoga Nidra), with postures, pranayama (breath exercises) & meditation in between. Wonderful for stretching fascia that holds us too tight sometimes. 1 hour & 15 min.
Tuesday: The Breath of Life - Dori
This 6 Week series will focus on various breath exercises, the science behind breathing techniques and meditation. Why do we need to learn or practice breathing? As someone who has asthma and a lung condition, I have reduced my puffer and improved my lungs since using one of these techniques on a daily basis. Breath work and meditation balance the nervous system and reduce blood pressure. Come join us as a beginner or deepen your current practice. This series of classes will help with many breathing issues, arthritic pain, and anxiety. Sept 17 - Oct 22; $100, 1 hour each Tuesday for Six Weeks.
Wednesday: 24 Posture Qigong - Dori
All done from standing, you will be guided through 24 flowing postures to help strengthen, balance and calm the body and mind. Done meditatively, and focusing on our breath, Qigong has many benefits similar to Yoga. Qigong is a great compliment to a yoga practice and is the umbrella over Tai Chi. 1 hour.
Thursday: Yoga - Crystal
Yin Yoga is a gentle practice where you will be guided through postures while the breath takes you deeper through the hold. Find stillness in each shape while relieving deeply held tension as you stretch connective tissue throughout your whole body. Classes may combine longer-held postures with the assistance of myofascial release balls for added tension relief. Balls will be provided. All the great benefits of yoga include stress relief. I hour
Friday: Chair Yoga - Crystal
Come explore various postures from the chair. This is an adapted yoga practice and is suitable for anyone with mobility challenges. It's a wonderful way to enjoy the many benefits of yoga while supporting those with injuries and those looking to take a more therapeutic approach to the practice. 1 hour
